Caring Communities: Birth to Three

The goal of Caring Communities: Birth to Three (CC: B-3) is to transform and improve the quality of care for infants and toddlers.  The program essence is to offer young children consistent, skilled care in family style, intimate, mixed-aged groups by primary care teachers until children are age three. Such continuity is a departure from today's standard practice of moving children from room to room with different teachers up to five times in three years.

Providing infants and toddlers longer term relationships with nurturing care teachers in well-eqipped classrooms, rich in appropriate experiences, helps children develop better emotional control, sense of self and respect for other children.  The program also creates the platform for future learning and academic success.

Continuity of care is especially important for children whose families may be less stable due to poverty, illness, job loss and/or frequent moves.
